After leaving United in 2009, Ronaldo scored 551 club goals in periods at Real Madrid and Juventus, and the 36-year-old claimed in an interview with the club that he is proud of his achievements.

“I’ve moved from Juventus to Manchester, and it’s a new chapter for me. I’m really delighted and grateful, and I want to carry on, to make history, to try to help Manchester achieve big results, to win trophies, and to win amazing things.”

The Portugal international also discussed his great friendship with former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, saying that they still chat on a regular basis and that the Scot’s effect on his career is something he will never forget.
“As everyone knows, Sir Alex Ferguson has been the key since I signed for Manchester [United] at 18,” he remarked.

“When I was at Sporting Lisbon, I recall a match versus Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson is a father figure to me in football.

“He helped me a lot, taught me a lot, and in my perspective, he played a significant role because of our relationship; we’re still in touch all the time, and he’s an amazing person. I adore him, and he was instrumental in getting me to where I am now, where I have signed for Manchester United.”

Ronaldo comes to Old Trafford with the club having failed to win a trophy in four consecutive seasons, including last season’s Europa League final defeat to Villarreal in a penalty shootout.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that he does not want to go through the suffering he went through in Gdansk again, and Ronaldo is eager to assist the team win titles again.
“I played with him for two or three years at Manchester United, so I have a wonderful relationship with him,” Ronaldo said of his new boss. “But now we’re in a different job, I’m a player and he’s a coach.”

“But it doesn’t matter; my connection with him is fantastic, and as I’ve already stated, I’m in Manchester to assist the club in achieving its goals, and the coach can rely on me for anything he needs.” As a result, I’m open to anything.”

Maguire: Ronaldo is the greatest player in the history of the game.

During England’s news conference ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Hungary, captain Harry Maguire was asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the club, and he said he can’t wait to see his new team-mate after the international break.

“Obviously, I’m abroad with England at the moment, so my concentration is on the game tomorrow,” Maguire stated.

“However, for him to sign for the club, and for me to be the greatest player to ever play the game, it’s incredible to have him here.”

“I’m convinced he’ll have a big impact on and off the field, and he’ll teach and improve a lot of players.”

“Obviously, with his goal-scoring record, he’ll strengthen our team as well, and I’m looking forward to meeting him in a few days.”
